Located in the heart of Ballarat on the historical Lydiard Street, Reid’s is the perfect location for those wanting to explore the amazing attractions Ballarat has to offer without spending a fortune on accommodation.
Built during the temperance era in 1886 and originally known as Reid’s Coffee Palace, this heritage listed building provided welcoming, low cost accommodation to many a traveller throughout the gold rush era and many years since. Today, Reid’s Guest House continues this tradition.
Much of the building’s original splendour can still be seen such as the foyer featuring the original magnificent hand painted ceiling murals, carved timber stairway and colourful Art Nouveau leadlight windows.
The Guest House itself is within walking distance from Ballarat Railway Station, Her Majesty’s Theatre, Cafes, Restaurants, Entertainment Venues and Shopping Centres and gives guests easy access Ballarat’s renowned tourist attractions such as Sovereign Hill, Ballarat Wildlife Park and Ballarat Botanical Gardens which are all just a short drive away or accessible via public transport right at the doorstep.
- In the interest of quiet enjoyment Reid’s Guest House is an alcohol free premises and there is no smoking permitted within the building.
- Reid’s Guest House has no ground floor accommodation and as Reid’s is a heritage listed building we do not have a lift. If you find stairs difficult please request a room on the first floor.
